A former bed and breakfast on the south Gower coast, reconfigured into three self contained two bedroom holiday apartments. Studio AROS led the architecture, the planning case — within the Gower AONB — and the interior design as one piece of work, so the building, the rooms and the guest experience all speak in the same voice.
Each apartment is laid out for short stays: generous open plan living that opens to the coast, easy changeover storage, and a tight separation between sleeping and social spaces, so a full house and a quiet couple both feel right.
Coastal interior design, turned toward the Gower
The interior language is modern and quietly minimal, then gently turned toward the coast: lime washed plaster, oak underfoot, soft boucle and linen, with marble and aged metal moments where the design earns a flourish. It is coastal interior design and organic, natural-material thinking pulled together, rather than a themed seaside look — rooms that hold their calm in January as well as July.
Because the apartments are holiday lets first, every decision was tested against the realities of short stays. Storage is planned around changeovers. Finishes are chosen to be forgiving. The open plan living spaces open toward the coast, so the landscape does the decorating, and the separation between sleeping and social spaces is kept tight so different groups of guests can settle in without compromise.
Running architecture, planning and interiors as a single piece of work mattered here. The building sits within the Gower AONB, so the planning case, the fabric of the conversion and the interior design had to be argued and drawn together — one team carrying the project from the first sketch through to the finished, guest-ready rooms.
